Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important official commented the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
