The renowned publisher has welcomed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Management Change Comes After Poor Feedback
Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last fall.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that early feedback sessions had indicated the need for a more defined game identity.
Ismailer stated that the team is now overhauling the project with a revised vision, aiming to satisfy community desires.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
The news follows a similar action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Below is the complete content from Ismailer's communication:
Hello Everyone—
I know you all just wrapped up your town hall - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and creative developers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re eager for that relationship to persist.”
Given your hard work and flexibility, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The player input from last autumn’s the game playtest was enlightening. It confirmed the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It revealed the necessity for a more distinct identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the feedback to heart and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed direction - one that’s positioned to fulfill its promise to our fans.
The trust in this project increases every day. To further the remarkable development you’ve made, I’m excited to announce the new hire as the incoming Director of 31st Union. Following several months of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.
His management and expertise in the PVP shooter field is vast, having dedicated the last 15 years creating and overseeing some of the most well-known titles in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, Apex Legends.
Please join me in receiving Ben in the coming days. We are all looking forward to keep observing the development of the game in the months to ahead.
David
