The buzz surrounding this year's gaming ceremony was significant, particularly after host Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a strange statue. The question has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is developing a brand-new Divinity game.
Revealed to be Divinity, the game was showcased with a audacious trailer that included striking imagery, from a burning man to scenes of revelry and the very opening of infernal gates.
Moving Beyond Original Sin
Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian clarified that a third Original Sin game to its venerated RPGs is not on the cards right now.
Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a evolution of the main series. This distinction implies that the team could be designing a real-time experience rather than another turn-based title. At this moment, it remains theory, as only a teaser video is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it pioneered the contemporary revival of deep computer role-playing games. These games are known for detailed worlds, choice-driven narratives, and deep class systems—elements that later were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its setting is familiar fare, what really distinguishes Divinity apart is the immense freedom granted to the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is brimming with specialized paths you can achieve by choosing a distinct build with a personal story.
The series is also famously flexible, letting players to experiment both in story and combat. Nearly every quest can be approached in multiple ways, frequently in surprising fashion.
- You might find an answer because you heeded something an animal companion shared.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by using the world itself in a clever way.
A New Chapter Begins
It is these creative systems that have cemented the series to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as a top-tier role-playing games ever made. Now, the RPG community can get ready for a new entry in this legendary franchise.
