American Military Targeted a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Asserted Without Offering Details.

Ex-President Trump has claimed that American forces struck a "major plant" in the South American country recently. However, the ex-leader did not specify the precise purpose or site of the target, and officials have issued no further clarification from his team.

Unspecific Remarks Made During a Radio Show

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you read – they have a large facility, where the vessels depart from. Recently, we took it out. So we targeted them decisively," Trump reportedly said to GOP supporter and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Strike

Should a American military action is confirmed, it would represent the first attack on Venezuelan soil since the US Department of Defense initiated a increase of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to interdict drug traffickers that the Trump administration claims operate under the orders of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The stated purpose of the force deployment has evolved into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Video and Official Claims

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are ready to expand the military campaign by attacking objectives inside Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require legislative approval.

A clip posted online on 24 December seemed to depict an explosion allegedly from an industrial zone in a Venezuelan state. But, the footage or the facility has not been independently verified.

An official from Trump's team reportedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a drug facility in his comments.

Response and Current Military Posture

The Caracas administration has remained silent on the alleged strike Trump referenced. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela about it.

The presence of American forces in the area – a position some have referred to as a maritime "quarantine" – represents the most expansive naval operation of the Trump era.

Officials have refrained from labeling the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that approximately 15,000 troops are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf, including a aircraft carrier group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to enforce existing sanctions.
